The Spiritual And Scientific Connection Of Lucid Dream Meaning

While most people are more familiar with the spiritual implications of lucidly being able to control dreams, there might actually some scientific explanations for the phenomenon as well. Now, the lucid dream meaning according to Hindu and Buddhist beliefs revolve around the concept of enlightenment. In some sense, the scientific world also has a similar core belief about this phenomenon, but it is backed up by some research.

When one would ask a Buddhist or a Hindu about the dreamworld, they would most likely say that it is a spiritual plane of illusions where the soul walks when the body rests. In this plane, one is actually on autopilot and is like watching a movie, not aware that he or she is actually inside a dream. Those who are self aware in the waking world are actually those who have the ability to know that they are in a dream and can thus control all the surroundings.

The belief also states that the physical realm is also an illusion type of world wherein the soul sleeps and the physical body is one autopilot. Those who have the ability to lucidly control dreams also have the ability to seek and extract truths from the physical world itself. In other words, those who can navigate the dreamworld lucidly also have natural wisdom.

Now, this is somehow linked to some scientific research stating that people who can lucidly control their dreams have a different cognitive ability compared to most people. One of the most notable studies comes from the duo of Patrick Bourke and Hannah Shaw from University of Lincoln. Their hypothesis would be that lucid dreamers have a higher cognitive ability for out of the box thinking.

Their study involved sixty eight students under the Psychology program from the ages 18 up to 25. They were all interviewed about their experience with lucidly navigating the dreamworld and then they were asked to solve some puzzles. The expectation would be that those who dream like this more often would have higher ability to solve these rather unrelated puzzles using out of the box thinking.

The results of the study actually confirmed their theory as the lucid dreamers were able to solve more of the puzzles by twenty five percent compared to those who could not control dreams. From there, they actually concluded that people with this ability are better at making solutions to complex problems. In a sense, they are actually more creative than most.

The researchers then added that these people are able to take on the most complex problems and make them simple. This is a cognitive ability that most people have a hard time acquiring. In fact, some of the methods that these people come up with are not the types that average people would think.

If one would tie this back to the spiritual implications of lucidly dreaming, both scientific and spiritual meet. In the spiritual world, these people are natural truth seekers while in the scientific world, they are complex problem solvers. With that, there is definitely a logical and deeper meaning behind this type of phenomenon.
