We hear a lot of talk these days about the law of attraction. This law says that we are responsible for creating and attracting everything we see in our lives. We are in complete control. Some might find this thought comforting, while it will undoubtedly scare others to death.
So, how does this law work? Well, to make it incredibly simple, it just means that we attract what we expect. It begins when we're kids. Attitudes, behaviors, and your entire outlook on life start to be programmed inside of you almost immediately after we're born.
We learn to expect certain things. Abraham Lincoln once said, "I find people are just about as happy as they make up their minds to be."
These expectations can be good, or they can be bad. If you're brought up by emotionally healthy parents, you're likely to follow suit. If, on the other hand, you were abused or neglected, those are the things you will continue to expect to see in your life today. And, according to the law of attraction, you will see it.
Are we destined or doomed to repeat these same cycles? Are we powerless to change the things we attract? Hardly. There are a great many things you can do to change your programming today, if you'll only open yourself up to them.
One big thing you can do is to stop watching television. With few exceptions, television is geared almost exclusively to the negative. Turn it on in the morning, and you're likely to hear about the latest bombing, complete with interviews with bleeding survivors. In the evening, you'll hear about the shooting than killed an elderly woman, or the fire that left a mother and her seven kids homeless.
Do you really need to hear that crap? Do you honestly believe that nothing good ever happens? If you watch TV enough, I'm sure that's what you believe. And guess what? If that's what you believe and expect, the law of attraction will keep giving you more of the same. Is that really what you want?
The law of attraction is always working. Think about that. It never stops. Even when you turn the TV off, those images can stay with you all day, meaning you're creating and attracting that kind of stuff the entire day. Pretty scary, huh?
Do you think you can improve your financial situation by continually hearing about how bad the economy is? What possible good can come from knowing that foreclosures are up 7% over last month, making it the largest jump in 21 years? Do you really need to know that?
My advice? Turn off the TV, buy some books, CD's, or even DVD's on Personal Development. Learn to use the law of attraction in your favor.
